"Abby's 1st Competition in Germany"
Hello Dawna,
I hope you are well.
You asked me to keep you informed about Abby’s development and I’m proud to say that she is doing fine and she became a real beautiful “lady”.  I will attach some very recent pictures of her. She is now about 6months old and she did grow very well so far. She weights 25kg right now and has a shoulder height of 55cm. I do train her almost every day and always take her with me for hunting. Her sense of smell gets sharper. When I shoot down an animal, I do try to lay a short trail and let her wind. Free retrieval in the field works as well fine, last week she protruded before a rabbit for the first time.
Last weekend I have been with her on an international dog show for the first time organized by my breeders union to let her get valued by experienced judges. You can imagine that I am very proud as Abby won the first prize in two competitions in the “youngest class”. I will attach the certificates for your information. (see below)
I give you a translation of the evaluation of her overall appearance according the records:

- typical head, flat skull, nose pigmented perfectly
- eyes – perfect shape and color, oval placed
- ears well placed and of perfect shape, high attached
- set of teeth completed in absolute perfect position
- legs parallel and perfect paws
- very good posture and perfect alignement
- try, chest very good developed and very good body shape
- coat: good structure

I think with such an evaluation is very satisfactory. During the rutting season of the red deer I have been to Poland this year, in the “Masuria”. I successfully shoot a deer. In autumn, there are going to start the driven hunts on hoofed game. I will participate on some of them and always will take Abby with me so that she get used to this kind of hunting and shootings.
Apart from that, my family and I we are all well and I hope the same for you and your children. I wish you lots of further success with your dogs, so that more beautiful “Abbys” will be the result. I would be very happy to hearing from you soon.
Best wishes from me and Abby,
Gerd
